Gokada is a tech startup based in Lagos, Nigeria. The startup launched as a ride hailing company in 2017, before diversifying into Logistics and Food Delivery in 2020 after a ban on commercial motorcycles by the Government of Lagos State.


Gokada was co-founded by the late Fahim Saleh and Deji Oduntan in 2017, as a bike-hailing company. Before launching Gokada in Nigeria, Late Fahim Saleh, had founded Pathao in 2013, a popular ride company based in Bangladesh. He moved to Lagos in 2017, working with the help of his co-founder, Deji Oduntan, to launch Gokada.[11] In March 2019, late Fahim Saleh took over as the CEO of Gokada, after his co-founder Deji stepped down from the role. The company also raised a Series A funding of $5.3 million in 2019, having acquired approximately 1,000 motorcycles and completed nearly 1,000,000 rides.


In January 2020, the Lagos State State Government announced a ban on commercial motorcycles, which also affected Gokada and other motorcycle ride-hailing companies operating in Lagos State. As a result of the ban, Gokada had to lay off about 80% of its workforce. Late Fahim Saleh had in a statement said Gokada was about to enter into profit before the ban by the Lagos State Government was announced.

POSITION 1.  RETRIEVAL OFFICER

LOCATION: LAGOS

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead recovery activities across all cities and new locations.
  • Handles special credit arrangements and deviations from standard terms of payment.
  • Reviews debt recovery process’s effectiveness and policies.

POSITION 2. COMPLIANCE LEGAL OFFICER

LOCATION: LAGOS

ABOUT THE ROLE

This position will focus on mitigating risks through the design, implementation, and enforcement of policies and procedures that ensure operation activities are undertaken within the boundaries of the law and compliant with the rules and restrictions set out by regulatory bodies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attend court cases involving riders against the company.
  • File cases against guarantors and riders that have absconded with the company bike for too long.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that meet laws and sector-specific rules and regulations outlined by relevant regulatory agencies.

POSITION 3. CORPORATE PARTNERSHIP OFFICER

POSITION 3. FLEET MANAGER

LOCATION: LAGOS

JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for a Fleet Manager who is highly organized with good quantitative and leadership ability. You will be highly analytical, organized,results-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Maintain electronic databases of sales, registration, inspections, usage, and maintenance of a fleet of owned and 3rd party motorcycles.
  • Ensure fleet availability to meet all requests by scheduling, forecasting, and surveying current user trends.
  • Provide support to the operations team regarding all fleet-related issues
  • Design and implement proper processes and procedures for the management fleet and ensure this is strictly adhered to.

POSITION 5. TRAINING MANAGER

LOCATION: LAGOS

JOB SUMMARY

The Training Manager will identify and monitor the training needs of Gokada riders (Pilots) in the organization, design, plan, and implement training programs, policies, and procedures to fulfill those needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervisory Responsibilities
  •             Oversees the daily activities of training associates and consultants.
  •             Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
